CJ Carr may not be running the triple option at Notre Dame, but we do here at OFD.
CJ CARR TRASH TALKING EVERYONE
One of the things we all noticed, wrote about, talked about, and laughed about this past spring was just how chippy this Notre Dame football team was with each other during their practice sessions. You don’t expect the clean-cut Heisman frontrunner from Saline, Michigan, to be one of the big instigators and culprits of all of the trash talking that goes on before it gets chippy… and yet CJ Carr was a lot of times. NBA legend, Larry Bird, is having a great PR run over the last 10 years as more and more former players talk about how big of a mouthy menace he was out on the court — and it looks like Carr may get that kind of treatment one day.
Personally, I love it. I love that Carr isn’t just a competitor, but one that gets right up in his opponents face about it — practice or game.
NO EXCUSES
Did Charlie Weis copyright that phrase? Anyways… for the same article as above, Leonard Moore also talks about Notre Dame being their own worst enemy last season when it came to the college football playoff. While a lot of us had complaints and finger pointing (and still do) it looks like Marcus Freeman has really got his team wrapped around a view of accountability. This is a MUCH better and much more appropriate vibe than “revenge tour” or anything else similar.
THAT’S A LOT OF WINS
I like this graphic… kind of. It’s a fun graphic to see all of Notre Dame’s football wins since 1887, but the whole asterisk thing remains lame.
A RUNNING THEME
There’s probably too much press about Notre Dame’s offense and how they will help guide the Irish through the CFP. Don’t get me wrong… I think the offense is going to be really good in 2026, but Notre Dame legitimately might be fielding the best defense in college football, and one that undoubtedly has the best secondary in college football.
