It was a pretty big surprise when CJ Carr decided to play for Notre Dame, after his grandfather Lloyd was previously the head coach at Michigan.

It looked like both the grandson’s wouldn’t play for the Wolverines, as Tommy was previously committed to Miami (OH). However, later in the process Michigan would enter the picture and on Sunday, the youngest Carr flipped to the Wolverines.

This one shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially considering the other offers that Tommy had which were Iowa State, Rutgers and Wake Forest. When your grandfather’s team comes calling late in the process, it makes sense to pick up the phone. Carr isn’t ranked nearly as high as CJ was, as he’s 247Sports Composite No. 962 overall prospect.

It will be interesting to see how Tommy’s Michigan career plays out, as we will all be watching.
