Class of 2022 Ole Miss DL enters transfer portal after gaining eligibility

New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Zxavian Harris became one of many players from the NCAA's class of 2022 to regain eligibility. He has entered the transfer portal after earning a temporary restraining order from the NCAA, according to Matt Zenitz.
Harris, along with several NFL players from the class of 2022, has gained eligibility thanks to a ruling that anyone from the class of 2022 who didn't redshirt, get drafted, or sign an NFL contract earns one more season. That list includes his Ole Miss teammate DaeQuan Wright. The court ruling on Aug. 19 made their return to college football possible.
Harris played his entire four-season career with the Ole Miss Rebels. The defensive lineman racked up 123 combined tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, but the Saints signed him as a UDFA. However, they cut him on Aug. 8, 2026, opening the door for him to play college football again.
However, a reunion was quashed pretty quickly. On Aug. 6, Ole Miss coach Pete Golding said he was not inclined to add any new players to the roster unless outside circumstances, like an injury, change the situation. He said he does not want to displace someone currently on the roster.
The SEC has reinforced that no player is allowed to transfer from one SEC school to another, so that leaves the Big Ten and ACC open for his services. Regardless, Harris would be a big addition for any college team looking to compete for a championship.
