Things aren’t looking good for Clemson ahead of its road game against Cal this Friday.
Three days before kickoff in Berkley, both the Tigers and Golden Bears released their injury report, and while Cal might be without four players Friday, Clemson will certainly take the field without at least 11 players and potentially its backup quarterback.
The Tigers listed 11 players as out on the injury report: safety Polo Anderson, cornerback Shavar Young Jr., wide receivers Cole Turner and Keil McGriff, running back Peyton Streko, defensive tackles Hevin Brown-Shuler, Kourtney Kelly, and Markus Strong, linebacker Joseph Roberto II, and offensive linemen Adam Guthrie and Mason Wade. Additionally, cornerback Corian Gipson, running back Jay Haynes, and defensive tackle Devarrick Woods are questionable, while quarterback Christopher Vizzina is probable.

A redshirt junior, Vizzina earned the starting spot over true freshman Tait Reynolds in fall camp. In his two starts, Vizzina went 14 of 24 for 102 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions as Clemson first was blown out by LSU 51-10 and then limped to a 22-7 home win over Georgia Southern.
During the second game, Vizzina suffered an injury to the elbow of his non-throwing arm. Reynolds relieved him, finishing the game by going 16 of 27 for 178 yards. He also rushed for 38 yards.
With Vizzina not dressing due to his injury, Reynolds made his first start Saturday vs. North Carolina. The freshman helped the Tigers overcome a 17-6 halftime deficit to defeat the Tar Heels 28-20; he finished the day with 215 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception and 26 yards on the ground.
Clemson (2-1, 1-0 in ACC) will kick off at 10:30 ET on Friday for its cross-country clash with Cal, which, like the Tigers, began the season with a lopsided loss. The Golden Bears fell to UCLA 45-24 in Week 1 but have since beaten Syracuse and FCS Wagner.
After Cal, Clemson will face Miami back in Death Valley.
