CLEMSON — Clemson football opened as double-digit underdogs for its Week 1 game in 2026.

Clemson will face LSU on Sept. 5, 2026, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Time and TV will be announced later, but it will be Clemson’s first time playing in the venue and first time opening a season in an SEC venue since 2016 vs. Auburn.

This will be the second game of their home-and-home series. LSU beat Clemson 17-10 at Memorial Stadium to start the 2025 season.

This will also be the first meeting between Clemson coach Dabo Swinney and LSU new coach Lane Kiffin, who replaced Brian Kelly after departing Ole Miss despite the Rebels being ranked No. 6 in the 2025 College Football Playoff rankings.

LSU went 7-6 to miss the CFP for the sixth straight season, but Kiffin has revamped the team’s 2026 roster, adding the No. 1 transfer portal class, including Clemson transfer defensive tackle Stephiylan Green.

Clemson is also coming off a 7-6 record, the second worst in Swinney’s full 17 seasons. This prompted Clemson to make staff changes, including re-hiring offensive coordinator Chad Morris, and add its most portal players in a single season. Despite these additions, LSU is big favorites for the season-opening matchup.
