In what was supposed to be the start of a redemption season for the Clemson Tigers, quickly turned into a nightmare first game of the season.

Clemson was run out of the stadium on Saturday night against LSU, losing 51-10. The Tigers couldn't muster up much of anything on offense, and the defense couldn't contain the explosive LSU attack.

While most people around college football believed that LSU would win the game, there weren't many who foresaw this type of performance from Clemson. The Tigers looked overmatched after the first few minutes, allowing LSU to do whatever it wanted.

So, after the game, questions have started to arise around the roster of Clemson, with head coach Dabo Swinney continuing to not adapt to the new reality of college football. But during a press conference on Tuesday, Swinney didn't want to hear any of this, pushing back against reporters.

Swinney was asked about whether he regrets not building out the roster more this offseason.

"No, I don't. I don't, man. I regret being 0-1 right now; I regret that. Can you ask me that at the end of the season? The season ain't over; we got 11 more. What if we go 11-1? You promise me you'll ask me that then? I'll answer it. But I'm not answering questions like that. I know that's your role; that's in this environment to be the guy that wants to create all the controversy and ask the controversial questions. If that's who you are, that's fine. I get it, but I'll answer that at the end of the season," Swinney said.

Swinney has failed to adapt to the new era of the sport, and it has seen Clemson fall behind. While the Tigers did make the College Football Playoff two years ago, they were quickly bounced out.

The ACC has been fairly week in recent years, also giving some credit to Clemson reaching the playoff. But Swinney's lack of desire to use the transfer portal has hurt the program, setting them back for years to come.

The performance against LSU was the latest reason for hot seat rumors to come up around Swinney. While he has seen a lot of success with Clemson during his coaching career, including winning two championships, his recent years have been underwhelming.

For Swinney's sake, the Tigers may need to go 11-1 to save his job. The clock is ticking on the Swinney era at Clemson, and if he isn't careful, the program will be looking for a new head coach sooner rather than alter.
