Clemsonfootball’s run on the recruiting trail kept rolling Tuesday.

Three-star tight end Carter Blackwell announced his commitment to the Tigers, giving Clemson another addition to its growing 2027 class. The Lee County, Georgia product chose Clemson over Florida State, Duke, UCF and several other programs.

Blackwell becomes the fifth player to commit to Clemson over the past eight days, continuing a strong stretch for Clemson on the recruiting trail. He joins safety Jarrell Chandler, lineman Carter Jones, running back Gary Walker and wide receiver Jamarin Simons as recent additions to the class.

Clemson offered Blackwell in April, and the Tigers quickly moved near the top of his list. That momentum carried through to Tuesday’s commitment announcement.

“I give all glory to God for every opportunity, lesson, and blessing along the way,” Blackwell wrote on social media. “I’m excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Clemson University.”

Blackwell has become one of the rising prospects in Georgia and drew attention from multiple Power Four programs throughout the process. As a junior at Lee County, he totaled 24 catches for 438 yards and five touchdowns.

He is also expected to be back on campus this weekend as Clemson hosts a large group of official visitors.

With Blackwell now in the fold, Clemson is up to 12 commitments in the 2027 class, which continues to build momentum heading into a busy summer recruiting stretch.
