The Clemson Tigers took a step back in 2025, going 7-6 and losing to the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Pinstripe Bowl. That was after Dabo Swinney led his team to a fifth College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
Now, into the offseason, he and his staff have work to do. High school recruiting has been one of the top priorities so far. Clemson’s 2027 cycle already ranks 11th in the nation with five total commitments.
The Tigers may soon be welcoming another addition. 247Sports’ Zach Blostein logged a crystal ball prediction for Clemson to land wide receiver Jamarin Simmons out of Tallahassee, Florida.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 152 pounds, Simmons is a four-star recruit, the No. 9 wide receiver and the No. 64 player in the nation, per 247Sports.
As a junior at Godby High School, he racked up 59 receptions for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns in 12 games. He also played on the defensive side of the ball, accumulating 25 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions and six pass deflections.
It would be a big recruiting win for the Tigers, potentially beating out several other top programs. Simmons also holds offers from the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Colorado Buffaloes, Miami Hurricanes and Ole Miss Rebels.
Simmons would be the second wide receiver Clemson lands in the 2027 cycle, joining four-star Trey Wimbley. As the Tigers work toward once again competing for national championships, landing talented recruits is important.
While the battle isn’t over, it’s clear Swinney and the Tigers are trending in the right direction.
