Clemson priority 4-star target Seth Williams announces commitment date

Clemsonfootball won’t have to wait much longer to learn whether it can finish its 2026 recruiting class with one final major addition.

Four-star safety Seth Williams announced Sunday that he will make his college decision on July 31, ending a recruitment that has taken several twists over the last few months. The standout is down to Clemson and Georgia, with one of those programs set to land one of the nation’s top defensive backs.

Williams’ recruitment has been anything but typical. After earning an offer from Clemson during an unofficial visit in March, he committed to the Tigers almost immediately. Less than 24 hours later, though, he backed away from that pledge, saying he wanted to slow the process down before making such an important decision.

That decision proved worthwhile, as Williams’ recruitment exploded in the months that followed. Scholarship offers poured in from across the country, eventually pushing his total past 50 as some of college football’s biggest programs entered the race.

As his recruitment expanded, Williams narrowed his focus to a smaller group of contenders. He took official visits to Clemson and Georgia while canceling previously scheduled trips to Florida and Ohio State.

This also isn’t the first time Williams has set a commitment date. He was originally expected to announce his decision on July 3 before opting to delay the commitment and continue evaluating his options.

Now, a new date is officially on the calendar. Clemson has made Williams one of its biggest priorities in the 2026 class, and the Tigers will find out on July 31 if they can secure the commitment of their top remaining recruiting target.
