Clemson's DT Vic Burley Offers Apology Following Arrest

Clemson Tigers defensive tackle took to his social media on Wednesday to apologize about an incident that happened over the weekend.
Per TigerNet, Burley pleaded guilty to public disorderly conduct in Clemson University Municipal Court. He received a conditional discharge on Wednesday. The plea was entered in the court record, but no conviction was entered, and Burley was not adjudicated guilty.
Via a post on X on Wednesday, Burley apologized to his coaches, teammates, and Clemson.
"I want to start by apologizing to my coaches, my teammates, our University, and our fans," Burley wrote. "I let you down, and I take full responsibility for my actions that night. You all have invested so much in me, and I understand I have some work to do to earn back your trust – but I promise you, I will.
"I also want to acknowledge the Clemson University police officers involved. I understand how difficult and thankless their job can be, and I'm grateful for how professionally and respectfully they treated me, even in a moment I wasn't at my best. That's not something I take for granted, and I'm sorry they had to deal with me at all that night."
Following the incident on Saturday morning, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney suspended Burley from the football team.
“Earlier today, I was made aware of defensive tackle Vic Burley’s arrest by the Clemson University Police Department for disorderly conduct early Saturday morning,” Swinney said, via On3.
“I have made the decision to suspend Vic from our football team indefinitely. We are extremely disappointed by his actions and decisions.”
Burley, a senior from Warner Robins, Georgia, recorded eight tackles for the Tigers last season. He's made 17 tackles and one pass defensed in his first two seasons with the program. It remains to be seen when he will return.
Clemson has a big week coming up. The Tigers will prepare to open its season on the road against LSU on Sept. 5.
Clemson is coming off a disappointing 7-6 record in 2025. Swinney and his Tigers need to stay focused to make a turnaround this season.
