Clemson's Memorial Stadium Receives Stunning Preseason Ranking

The Clemson Tigers are going to need some home-field advantage this year as they look to climb back atop the ACC after a 7-6 season in 2025. 

With a new quarterback under center, Christopher Vizzina or Tait Reynolds, the crowd needs to be quiet and patient. With a reloaded defense that will be asked to carry the Tigers early in the season, the capacity crowd of 81,500 at Memorial Stadium needs to make it loud for opposing offenses to get off the field quickly.

Kevin Skiver of USA Today ranked Memorial Stadium as the No. 1 stadium in the ACC. He believes it’s still one of the more intimidating places for opposing teams to play in the entire country.

"When talking about identity, Clemson Memorial Stadium has it in spades," Skiver wrote. "Indeed, it isn't just one of the most raucous atmospheres in the ACC. It stands up to most of college football. 

"Between the Death Valley moniker, Howard's Rock, and the run-down "The Hill," not to mention Clemson's historical success (though that has waned in recent seasons), it's hard to top the intimidation factor on college football Saturdays."

The Tigers didn't have a good showing at Memorial Stadium last season, going just 3-4. Clemson suffered humbling losses to SMU, Syracuse, and LSU.  The Tigers trio of victories came against Troy, Florida State, and Furman (FCS), meaning the program defeated just one Power 4 opponent at home, and had no wins against conference teams.

Clemson has another tough slate of games at home for the upcoming season. The Tigers will host Miami on Oct. 3, Virginia Tech on Oct. 24, and South Carolina on Nov. 28. 

Clemson should take care of business in its first game at home this season when it takes on GA Southern on Sept. 12. Depending on the outcome of its opener against LSU in Week 1, the Tigers could be motivated to earn a win in Week 2 against the Eagles. 

Memorial Stadium will also see North Carolina, Charleston So., and Georgia Tech visit this season. Clemson should have a winning record at home this season, but it will be hard for the team to go undefeated there this fall.
