The 2026 football season is almost here.
On Tuesday, Aug. 4, USA TODAY Sports released its preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. Not shockingly, Ohio State took the top spot in the first poll of the 2026 college football season.
A college football preseason poll means one thing for high school football: The season on the prep side is also quickly approaching.
To be ranked in the Coaches Poll, teams had to assemble a roster capable of having a shot to win a national championship in 2026. Roster building, as always, begins in high school recruiting.
Here's a look at how the top teams in the 2026 preseason poll have fared in recruiting in the 2027 class, using the USA TODAY Sports Composite recruiting rankings of the top 100 players:
