BYU vs Texas Tech best bet

Texas Tech -12.5 (-115 at FanDuel)

I’m not expecting BYU's offensive opportunities to suddenly improve with a venue change, especially since the change isn’t to Provo. On top of that, with a national championship–caliber defense, I’m all in on Texas Tech making the Big 12 title game a bit of a blowout.

Miami (OH) vs Western Michigan best bet

Western Michigan -1.5 (-114 at FanDuel)

Western Michigan’s defense is elite in the red zone, ranking Top 20 nationally in yards allowed. This should result in the RedHawks settling for field goals more than touchdowns, while WMU will be able to finish drives.

See our full analysis and RedHawks/Mustangs SGP in our Miami (OH) vs. Western Michigan predictions.

Prairie View A&M vs Jackson State best bet

Prairie View A&M +7.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

When it’s been 750 days since you’ve lost in Jackson, it’s hard for bettors to look the other way. The thing is, the statistical profile of these teams doesn’t warrant the number — I’ll bite the bullet and play the underdog in a game where the numbers are closer than recent history would indicate

See our full analysis and Panthers/Tigers SGP in our Prairie View A&M vs. Jackson State predictions.

Georgia vs Alabama best bet

Alabama ML (+114 at FanDuel)

The Crimson Tide have an elite passing game with Ty Simpson and one of the country’s best receiving rooms. They already got the job done in Athens; now they’ll do it in the “neutral” site in Atlanta.

See our full analysis and Bulldogs/Crimson Tide SGP in our Georgia vs. Alabama predictions.

Duke vs Virginia best bet

Virginia -3.5 (-120 at FanDuel)

Duke’s five outright losses were also its only losses against the spread against FBS competition. Four of them were far more the Blue Devils’ own doing — only Virginia genuinely dominated Duke. If the Blue Devils revert to their usual form in a tight game, the Cavaliers should cruise with ease. Even when Duke played well, Virginia had no trouble.

See our full analysis and Blue Devils/Cavaliers SGP in our Duke vs. Virginia predictions.

Indiana vs Ohio State best bet

Ohio State -4.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

After winning the National Championship last year, no greater stressor existed for Ohio State than the Michigan boogeyman — but the Buckeyes got that monkey off their back with ease last week. There should be no stress remaining on Ohio State, unlike for Indiana, which very much still needs to prove it belongs in these title conversations.

See our full analysis and Hoosiers/Buckeyes SGP in our Indiana vs. Ohio State predictions.

Kennesaw State vs Jacksonville State best bet

Over 59.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

There is often an instinct to take an Under simply out of deference to run-first offenses, but when the run games work, run-first offenses are plenty capable of cashing an Over. Add in Kennesaw State’s recent defensive struggles, and that capability becomes a bit of a likelihood.

See our full analysis and Owls/Gamecocks SGP in our Kennesaw State vs. Jacksonville State predictions.

Troy vs James Madison best bet

James Madison -23.5 (-112 at FanDuel)

The Dukes do it all: They have an excellent offense, led by dual-threat QB Alonza Barnett, that ranks 18th in success rate and 28th in EPA per play. They also have an elite defense that leads the nation in success rate, while ranking 12th in opponent EPA per play.

See our full analysis and Trojans/Dukes SGP in our Troy vs. James Madison predictions.

North Texas vs Tulane best bet

North Texas -2.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

North Texas is absolutely blazing, ripping off six wins in a row and scoring at least 52 points in five of those. Freshman QB Drew Mestemaker powers the Mean Green, throwing for 3,835 yards and 29 touchdowns, while the emergence of fellow freshman RB Caleb Hawkins makes this offense electric.

See our full analysis and Mean Green/Green Wave SGP in our North Texas vs. Tulane predictions.

UNLV vs Boise State best bet

Under 58.5 (-115 at FanDuel)

Across the season, Boise State’s defense has been its strength; its offense tailing off creates more reason to believe in an Under. Similarly, UNLV’s defense has always been its weakness… but that defense is suddenly dialing in, giving further reason to believe in a low-scoring game.
