College Football Continues To Prove That It Doesn't Care About The Fans

Few sports share a greater connection with its fans than college football. The fans that help provide the sport with incredible pageantry, passion and full-blown craziness on a weekly basis are a huge part of what makes college football so special. But those in charge of college football are continuing to show that they don’t care about the fans.

There’s a growing push from college football’s leaders to expand the College Football Playoff from 12 team to 24 teams.

Not only will expanding to 24 teams further worsen the strength of the regular season, but it’s in direct opposition to what fans want.

College football fans have made it clear: Do not expand to 24 teams.

But expansion to 24 teams seems like a foregone conclusion.

“If we can get a decent (TV) deal, we are definitely going to 24,” one industry leader told Yahoo! Sports.

College football fans remain upset by this

“I used to love college football…ESPN Gameday, history and tradition, season-altering upsets, every game being critical, epic recruiting battles…all of this is now being flushed down the toilet just to make a few more bucks. It’s actually sad. Greed devours,” one fan wrote.

“They think college football is impenetrable. Impossible to fail. They’re wrong,” one fan added.

“Here comes ESPN to ruin college sports even more,” one fan added.

“This is worst thing for the sport. Horrible to not listen to any of the fans,” one fan added.

“How many fans can afford to attend these games ? The early round games not on a campus will be half filled,” one fan added.

One thing is clear, though: Money rules all. Expanding to 24 teams will mean more money through TV deals and ticket sales. And, clearly, that’s what matters most to the sport’s leaders right now.
