College Football Fans Pushing For 'No Fall Weddings' Are Extremely Childish

College football fans love to talk on social media about how much they hate fall weddings. Truly, they seem to despise them. Anyone who tweets about their distaste for fall weddings is basically guaranteed to get thousands of likes and go viral.

And I get it – kind of.

Fall weddings that take place on Saturday afternoons can be annoying. There are only so many football weekends per year. And, if the wedding takes place on a weekend when your favorite team is playing a big game, it obviously conflicts with the possibility of attending the contest in person.

But college football fans need to grow up.

For one, phones exist. Anyone with a smart phone has the ability to stream a college football game in pristine HD. It’s not like it was 20 or 30 years ago, when not being in front of a TV meant not watching at all.

But there’s also another, more important angle: college football is not everything. It’s awesome – it’s probably my favorite sport – but an occasional wedding or two during the fall is not going to ruin your fandom.

I’m currently planning a wedding with my fiancee. Now, we’re doing it in late May, so we won’t have any college football conflicts. But going through the process of planning a wedding has taught me how much work and effort (most of this done by my incredible fiancee) goes into it.

If someone wants to have their wedding on a fall Saturday, and they want you there, you should go. You can watch the game on your phone or, gasp, you could just miss one weekend of games.

To quote “Fever Pitch,” while we all love college football, has it ever loved us back? Be there for your loved ones and attend the wedding. You’ll be fine.
