After offering college football fans a nibble last Saturday, The FBS Division offers a full repast in Week 2. Including the Monday Labor Day holiday, all 25 of the AP ranked teams are active. There aren’t a lot of marquee matchups to boast of and favorites should rule the day, but there will be plenty of prospects to watch.
These are the games TST will be monitoring this Saturday. Who’s your favorite team and prospects?
Saturday
North Texas @ #6 Indiana
9 am on FOX
Eyes on: Josh Hoover takes over at QB for Indiana, he can sling it and has been very productive stat-wise, but only 19-12 as a starter. He’ll throw to a pair of excellent receiving, Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh. North Texas is looking at a complete rebuild. After a stellar 12-2 2025 season, they lost the entire coaching staff and 17 players off their high-flying offense.
East Carolina @ #13 Alabama
9 am on ABC
Eyes on: ‘Bama looking to re-load, losing 20+ players in the portal and bringing in 19 new faces. Redshirt freshman Keelon Russell takes the QB reins and has the the potential to to be a dangerous run/throw threat.
Oregon State # #23 Houston
9 am on ESPN
Eyes on: After re-building Tulane, Head coach Willie Fritz has the Houston Cougars trending upward and finished last year at 10-3. Although QB Conner Weigman had injury problems early in his career, he’s a dual threat when healthy. Should be a fun offense to watch with two good receivers in Amare Thomas and Trent Walker, Makhi Hughes is a sneaky good running back, and a veteran offensive line.

Eyes on: Ohio State has three likely Round 1 draft picks on offense, QB Julian Sayin, WR Jeremiah Smith, and G/T Austin Sievereld. Ball State will start a a 5’10” 250 lb. quarterback, Keldric Luster.
Boise St. @ #2 Oregon

Eyes on: The Ducks offense. QB Dante Moore is getting run as a possible #1 overall draft pick, while TE Jamari Johnson is touted as an equal to Terrance Ferguson and Kenyon Sadiq. On the other side of the ball, defensive tackles A’Mauri Washington and Bear Alexander form a impenetrable wall in the interior. Boise State has a veteran QB Maddux Madsen and two good running backs, Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley.

Eyes on: Arch Manning, who else? But wait, there’s more than the Manning hype.The Longhorns have two top transfer running backs, Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers. On defense Colin Simmons is a Top 10 draft pick and safety Jelani McDonald will be rising up draft boards. Texas State answers with QB Brad Jackson throwing to wide outs Beau Sparks and Chris Dawn.
Auburn vs Baylor (in Atlanta, Ga.)
12:30pm on ABC/Disney+
Eyes on: No more boring Auburn offense, new coach Bob Golesh is inserting his fast-paced offense into the SEC and bringing a handful of his 2025 playmakers with him. QB Byrum Brown is one of the most explosive run/pass players in the country. Baylor QB DJ Lagway comes over from Florida with pro traits, but has yet to break out.
Oklahoma St. @ Tulsa

Eyes on: The Cowboys didn’t have to go far, raiding North Texas’ #1 offense for their coach and offensive stars. QB Drew Mestemaker, RB Caleb Hawkins, and WR Wyatt Youngwill look to prove they can step up in competition and pull the trigger. Tulsa has an under-the-radar cornerback, Elijah Green. Good size and athleticism.
Clemson @ #11 LSU

Eyes on: LSU QB Sam Leavitt will distribute the ball amongst a bevy of explosive wide receivers, Jayce Brown, Jackson Harris, and Eugene Wilson, along with TE Trey’Dez Green. On defense, the secondary is fast and aggressive, particularly safeties Tamarcus Cooley, Ty Benefield, and Dashawn Spears. Clemson is in a re-building year, but still has WR TJ Moore, CB Ashton Hampton, LB Sammy Brown, and E Will Heldt as cornerstones.
Western Michigan @ #16 Michigan
4:30 pm on NBC
Eyes on: New Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham built a strong program at Utah and tries to revitalize a program that’s went stale the past two seasons. Highly-touted Bryce Underwood returns at QB, while Jordan Marshall looks to be a strong running back. Western Michigan has a running back of their own, Jalen Buckley, and he rates a look-see. This will be a real test for him.

Eyes on: New Bruins coach Bob Chesney led James Madison to the FBS playoffs last season. He takes a big step up in weekly competition, but has a record of building successful programs at lower levels. Can he take QB Nico Iamaleava from “potential” to star? Cal leans on the arm and legs of redshirt sophomore QB Keawe Sagapolutele. He’ll get help from three incoming transfers, receivers Ian Strong and Chase Hendricks and TE Dorian Thomas.
