Nearly two weeks after the conference championship games, the College Football Playoff gets underway Friday with an on-campus opening round game.
Oklahoma hosts Alabama in an SEC clash to kick off this year’s road to the CFP title. It’s a rematch of the Nov. 15 game in Tuscaloosa that saw the Sooners snap the Tide’s eight-game winning streak with a 23-21 triumph. The stakes are higher Friday, with a matchup against No. 1 seed Indiana awaiting the winner.
There are also a pair of appetizers earlier in the day before the main event. First up is an intriguing Myrtle Beach Bowl matchup of conference champions between CUSA’s Kennesaw State and the MAC’s Western Michigan.
The afternoon spotlight belongs to the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, where Memphis will clash with NC State.
