Week 1 of the 2026 college football season officially gets underway on Thursday, Sept. 3, two days before most teams kickoff.

Week 1, which coincides with Labor Day, stretches matchups from Sept. 3, through Monday, Sept. 7, resulting in a marathon of games for college football fans that have waited months for a new year after Indiana defeated Miami in the national championship last season.

A pair of teams ranked in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll will start their seasons on Sept. 3, with No. 25 Missouri hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff and No. 21 Utah facing Idaho. Colorado and Georgia Tech also face off for the second consecutive season in a showdown of Power Four programs.

College football games on Thursday, Sept. 3, will air on an assortment of different TV channels, including Big Ten Network, ACC Network, SEC Network, ESPNU and ESPN. Each game airing on one of those channels can be streamed on the ESPN app (with a TV provider login) or Fubo, which offers a free trial.

Other games will air exclusively on ESPN+ or Peacock, which are streaming-only platforms.
