College Football Playoff Overview: No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs

The 2025 College Football Playoff Quarterfinals are less than a week away and there's set to be some electric matchups. The No. 1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers will take on the No. 9 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl. The No. 2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the No. 10 ranked Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Eve, the No. 3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs take on the No. 6 ranked Ole Miss Rebels in the Sugar Bowl and the No. 4 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the No. 5 ranked Oregon Ducks in the Orange Bowl.

Game: The Sugar Bowl (New Orleans, LA)
Date: Thursday – January 1
Time: 8:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Line: Georgia -6.5; O/U 56.5 (FanDuel)

Let's kick off our preview of the Sugar Bowl with an overview look at the No. 3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

HEAD COACH – Kirby Smart

Record at Georgia: 117-20

It's safe to say that the SEC now runs through Athens, Georgia and their head coach Kirby Smart. Smart took over the Bulldogs program in in December of 2015 and never looked back. Smart has won four SEC titles and won two national titles. He now has the Bulldogs back in the playoffs after their early exit last season in their 23-10 loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl in 2024. Now, they look to avenge that loss on the same stage in a rematch with an opponent they faced earlier this season in Ole Miss. The only difference, now the Rebels are without head coach Lane Kiffin and Georgia is now the winners of seven straight, including a 21-point victory over the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship a few weeks ago.

Offensive Coordinator: Mike Bobo (3rd Season)
Defensive Coordinator: Glenn Schumann (4th Season)
