Just How Good Is Kentucky After Rumbling Over Texas A&M?

What Happened? Kentucky 31, Texas A&M 21
Kentucky shocked Texas A&M behind a 14-for-18, 252-yard, two-touchdown passing day from Kenny Minchey, the running of CJ Baxter, and a defense that held firm time and again. The Aggies scored first, but Kentucky scored 28 straight points, got up by 17 on a 52-yard bomb of a field goal by Adam Zouagui, and the defense did the rest.

The Kentucky coaching staff got it done. UK head coach Will Stein famously gave the “because of me” comment this offseason about why Kentucky will be better, and he was right.

He had his team ready, defensive coordinator Jay Bateman pitched a gem against the Texas A&M team he was a part of last year, and now Wildcat fans can see why there’s reason to be fired up for what the program can become.

How much does this screw up Texas A&M’s College Football Playoff hopes? It’s just one loss, but considering the Aggies have to go to LSU next, and still have road games against Missouri, Alabama, South Carolina, and Oklahoma, and home dates against Texas and Tennessee … let’s just say it’ll be difficult. Vanderbilt Beat NC State, How?

What Happened? Vanderbilt 35, NC State 31
No, it wasn’t one of the biggest games of the day, but it’s the one everyone will remember for the rest of recorded time.

NC State was up 24-7 late in the third quarter when Vandy started to come back, but a CJ Bailey touchdown pass made it 31-21 late in the fourth. The Commanders answered to pull within three, but NC State had it won. Backed up on its own goal line, all the Wolfpack needed to do was take a safety, and then this happened.

Vanderbilt is still unbeaten. 3-0 doesn’t care where 3-0 came from. The Commodores were outplayed by NC State, and they weren’t great in the first two games against Austin Peay and Delaware, but now they dive into SEC play at Auburn with a perfect record.

You shan’t recover from this if you’re NC State. To be very, very fair to CJ Bailey, there still would’ve been a little time on the clock had he run out of the end zone or if he went down early, but it still would’ve taken a miracle for Vandy to win. Now at 1-2, the Wolfpack get App State before dealing with Louisville.
