Colorado backup quarterback Ryan Staub is set to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on Friday, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Staub played in five games during the 2025 season, starting against Houston in Week 3. His most memorable moment from the season came in Week 2 when he came in against Delaware and went 7-of-10 for 157 yards and two passing touchdowns.
He finished the year with 427 passing yards and three touchdowns with four interceptions.
After three seasons in Boulder, Julian Lewis entrenched as the Colorado starter, Staub opting to enter the portal makes a lot of sense. Thamel also reported that Staub is looking for a school where he can compete to start during his final two seasons.

Colorado and Deion Sanders can now put quarterback on their list of needs during the upcoming transfer portal cycle. Currently, Lewis is the only signal caller on the roster with starting experience, and he will only be a redshirt freshman next season. An experienced veteran or two is likely to be added to that mix.
