Colorado, Deion Sanders Dealt Unfortunate Transfer Portal News

The Colorado Buffaloes had a rough 2025 college football season as they finished the year on a five-game losing streak and with a 3-9 record.

With many fans and analysts putting third-year head coach Deion Sanders on the hot seat, it became evident that the Pro Football Hall of Fame corner needed to make major changes in the offseason. While one hire doesn’t change everything, Sanders stunned the college football world by hiring Sacramento State head coach and creator of the “Go Go” offense, Brennan Marion, to be his offensive coordinator.

Many around the sport assumed this would help Sanders attract plenty of top talent to Boulder, but on Wednesday the Buffs ended up losing one of their best players.

As revealed by Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, Colorado’s leading receiver Omarion Miller is expected to enter his name into the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2.

Miller had 45 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns for the Buffaloes and has one year of eligibility remaining.

A Louisiana native and former four-star recruit, Miller chose Colorado over the likes of Nebraska, Miami and LSU as a 2023 recruit. He will presumably command a large market in the portal.

For Sanders, it’s a setback as he looks to build a roster for a fourth season at Colorado in 2026. In three years, he has a record of 16-21 as the Buffaloes’ head coach.
