For the second time under Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes failed to reach bowl eligibility. They went just 3-9 overall and 1-8 in Big 12 matchups.
The Buffaloes now enter the offseason and have utilized the transfer portal. Sanders has received commitments from 40 players while losing 34. The group ranks fifth in the conference and made its latest addition on Sunday.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Colorado landed a commitment from former Indiana Hoosiers cornerback Jah Jah Boyd.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 173 pounds, Boyd is only a redshirt freshman. He appeared in six games for the Hoosiers, racking up eight tackles and one forced fumble.
Coming out of high school in the 2024 cycle, he was a three-star recruit, the No. 140 cornerback and the No. 1,303 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
Boyd chose Indiana over the Penn State Nittany Lions, Virginia Tech Hokies, Boston College Eagles and Pittsburgh Panthers. As a redshirt freshman, he still has three more years of eligibility.
The Buffaloes’ defense is in need of help. In 2025, they ranked 112th in points allowed per game (30.5) and 123rd in total yards allowed per game (425.7).
Boyd is the fifth cornerback Sanders has landed in the portal. He joins Jason Stokes (Utah Utes), Emory Floyd (Appalachian State Mountaineers), Cree Thomas (Notre Dame Fighting Irish) and Justin Eaglin (James Madison Dukes).
This latest move adds another young defensive option that could potentially make a quick impact in Boulder.
