You can't take anything for granted in college football recruiting in 2026.
Four-star Ackerman, Mississippi, defensive lineman committed to the in-state Ole Miss Rebels in March, and after more than three months committed, he reaffirmed that decision on Monday and claimed he was shutting down his recruitment in a post on his Instagram story.
Just one day later, he has flipped his commitment to Colorado.
Shumaker ranks as the second-best prospect in Mississippi and the No. 70 prospect nationally, per the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound prospect was coming off an official visit to Boulder this past weekend.
Not even 24 hours ago Ben’Jarvis Shumaker announced he was “shutting down his recruitment” with Ole Miss

Shumaker becomes the highest-ranked member of Colorado's 16-man recruiting class, which currently ranks just No. 37 nationally. Coach Deion Sanders faces a potentially pivotal season after a disappointing campaign in 2025, but he at least now has a major win on the recruiting trail under his belt this year.
