The Colorado Buffaloes continue to add dynamic pieces to their roster through the transfer portal, landing a massive addition on Monday afternoon. As of January 12, Colorado has had 36 players transfer out of the program and has brought in 31 new transfers, with more expected to follow. One of the most notable additions is former Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Bo Hughley, a 6-foot-7, 305-pound rising junior from Fairburn, Georgia.

This is a massive pickup for Colorado and Deion Sanders, both metaphorically and literally. Hughley is a behemoth along the offensive line and was widely viewed as a likely starter at tackle for Georgia in 2026. Instead, he now arrives in Boulder with a real opportunity to start from day one opposite star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton.

On paper, this could be a game-changer for Colorado. The offensive line struggled again last season, but adding a player with Hughley’s size, pedigree and upside could significantly improve protection for quarterback Julian Lewis in 2026 and beyond.

Coming out of high school, Hughley was a highly regarded four-star prospect and the No. 12 offensive tackle in the 2023 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He held more than 20 offers from Power Four programs across the country before choosing to stay in state and sign with the Bulldogs.

During his time at Georgia, Hughley appeared in 14 total games over three seasons. He redshirted in 2023, played in three games as a reserve in 2024 and then saw expanded action in 2025, appearing in 10 games with two starts during his redshirt sophomore season. He will arrive at Colorado with two years of eligibility remaining.

While a majority of Colorado’s incoming transfers have come from smaller programs, the Buffaloes have also added talent from the Big Ten and the SEC. Landing a player who was on track to start at tackle for Georgia in 2026 is a significant statement. It should raise eyebrows nationally and send a clear message that Deion Sanders and Colorado are serious about turning things around after a 3-9 2025 season.
