Recruiting season has taken a hiatus as college programs enter fall camp and preparations for the 2026 season, but that does not stop the recruiting staff from trying to find the next diamond in the rough.

On Saturday, the Buffaloes extended an offer to 2028 three-star quarterback Trey Wright, their 19th quarterback offer in the class.

Wright is ranked as the No. 419 overall prospect, the No. 28 quarterback and the No. 52 player from the state of Texas. Wright holds 28 offers, including from Arizona, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA and several others.

During his 2025 season at Frisco Lone Star High School, Wright completed 211 of his 313 attempts for 4,042 yards and 54 total touchdowns. He also rushed for 1.764 yards and threw just seven interceptions.

Wright seems to be on the fast track to a possible four-star ranking after last season's performance. Colorado currently has zero 2028 commitments, which is to be expected given how early we are in the 2028 cycle.

CU's 2027 recruiting class is very solid, ranking No. 33 nationally with four composite blue-chip commits. Sanders and Co. will hope to keep the 20-recruit group intact through the early signing period, which opens on December 2.
