The Colorado Buffaloes have only one defensive back remaining on their 2025 roster after the departure of DJ McKinney, meaning Deion Sanders will need to rebuild through the transfer portal.

However, the Buffaloes are already getting started with that process by offering transfer Justin Eaglin from James Madison. The cornerback shined in 2025, recording five interceptions, returning one for a touchdown and one in the first round of the College Football Playoff against the Oregon Ducks. His five interceptions were tied for the second most in the Sun Belt in 2025

Alongside five interceptions, Eaglin had 35 total tackles and eight breakups in his redshirt junior season. The 6-foot-1 defensive back earned second-team All-Sun Belt Honors and ranks as the 44th-best cornerback in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports.

Eaglin spent four years at James Madison, making his collegiate debut in 2023 before breaking out in 2024. In his two full seasons with JMU, he hauled in six interceptions, 14 pass breakups and 47 total tackles.

With one year of eligibility remaining, the former James Madison Duke would be a perfect fit for the rebuilding Buffaloes. With only one cornerback remaining from Colorado‘s roster and only two freshman corners, Eaglin could bring much-needed experience at the position.
