Colorado football is going after an Ole Miss commit again.

Four-star defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker, a top Mississippi prospect from Choctaw County High in Ackerman, is visiting Boulder this weekend and has already hinted that a change could be coming.

Shumaker posted a photo from the trip on X and added the line “Why not???” The post got immediate attention, including a like from Colorado offensive coordinator Brennan Marion.

The Buffs have already taken one player from Ole Miss this month in defensive lineman Coderro McDaniel, and this latest visit gives Deion Sanders another chance to flip a top SEC commit. Colorado has also picked up flips from other Power Four programs this cycle, including Jaiden Kelly-Murray from South Carolina and Ba’Roc Willis from Alabama.

Shumaker would be the biggest prize yet, as he carries a 0.9712 composite grade from 247Sports and is rated as a top-100 national recruit. He also ranks as Mississippi’s No. 3 overall prospect in the 247Sports and Rivals industry rankings.

At 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, Shumaker has shown strong burst off the snap and quick hands inside. He finished last season with seven sacks and 17 tackles for loss, production that has made him one of the more disruptive defensive tackles in the 2027 class.

Colorado has a chance to make a serious move this weekend. If the Buffs land Shumaker, it would send another strong message that Boulder is becoming a real threat on the recruiting trail.
