Colorado football ticket sales near 50,000 for Weber State home opener

As of Tuesday evening, the Colorado Buffaloes have sold approximately 42,500 tickets for Saturday's home opener against Weber State, a number that is bringing some online reaction. Some fans have framed the early total as a warning sign for Deion Sanders' program.

That ignores how close the game could be to a full Folsom Field by Saturday afternoon.

On3's Brian Howell said Colorado is "pretty confident" it will sell a significant number of tickets this week and approach 50,000 by kickoff. Folsom Field's listed capacity is 51,400, so the projection would put the crowd near capacity for a 1:30 p.m. MT game against an FCS opponent.

Colorado actually has a strong attendance history under Sanders. The Buffaloes averaged 53,180 fans in 2023, a program record, followed by 52,514 in 2024. Colorado's 2025 average was 50,469 despite a three-win season and the departures of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

The opponent affects the conversation

Weber State is Colorado's only FCS opponent in 2026 and enters Boulder as a heavy underdog. The Wildcats are 1-1, have a new head coach in Eric Kjar, and allowed 368 rushing yards in last week's loss to Southern Utah.

Saturday is not the same sell as a Big 12 game or a nonconference FBS matchup. It is still an opportunity for Colorado to build on its 14-13 road win at Georgia Tech and for fans to get their first look at the 2026 team inside Folsom Field.

A crowd still likely to show up

The 42,500 figure is not the final attendance count. With ticket sales expected to rise throughout the week and great weather expected, Colorado should play in front of 50,000 fans.

The Buffaloes will wear white for the home opener, and the game will stream on ESPN+.
