Colorado football received a Christmas present from 2026 defensive lineman Joseph Peko, as the three-star recruit committed to Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes on Christmas morning.

Peko has an obvious family connection to Colorado, with his dad, Domata Peko, as the Buffs’ defensive line coach. The younger Peko will also team up with his older brother, Domata Peko Jr., a junior college addition to the Buffs’ most recent recruiting class.

Joseph Peko chose his dad’s Buffs over Miami, North Carolina and others. 247 Sports Composite ranks the California native as the nation’s No. 971 recruit, No. 103 defensive lineman and the No. 75 player from his home state of California.

Peko becomes Colorado’s 14th 2026 commit, a much-needed one after a 3-9 season that saw nearly 20 players announce plans to enter the transfer portal.

His commitment boosted the CU’s 2026 class to No. 62 nationally and No. 12 in the Big 12. Expect those rankings to rise once transfer portal additions can commit, beginning January 2.
