The University of Colorado has already made a decision on head coach Deion Sanders in 2025.
The Colorado Buffaloes are having a tough 2025 season. Colorado is 3-7 on the season, officially eliminated from bowl game contention. The Buffaloes won 9 games last season, appearing in the Alamo Bowl. But after losing Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter to the National Football League, the Buffaloes haven't been able to bounce back with a good season in 2025.
West Virginia topped Colorado, 29-22, on Saturday. With that loss to the Mountaineers, the Buffaloes were officially eliminated from bowl game contention.
Deion Sanders is promising to be better.
"This is not who we are," Sanders said after the game. "We're better than this and [Colorado fans] deserve better than this. I want better than this. I feel like I coach better than this. I feel like we got players that are so much better than the production that we're putting out.
"So then you've got to identify the coaches — that's us — and that starts with me, because I feel like we got the nucleus inside the locker room that we should be getting it done. I don't think we played a team that's athletically and physically better than us. I really don't. I'll stand on that."
Colorado is already sticking with Coach Prime
Colorado AD Rick George has already said that he is sticking with head coach Deion Sanders, despite the disappointing season.
“Everybody feels like, ‘OK, we invested, we put our resources in it, we want results now,’ and yes, we get that but sometimes you just don’t live up to expectations,” George said. “… It’s a challenging time with the House settlement, NIL, the revenue sharing, there’s expectations out there. When you don’t exceed those, or meet those expectations, there’s a lot of chatter, there’s a lot of negativity.
“But I’m proud of ‘Coach Prime.’ It’s been a tough year for him and what he’s been through, and he’s just been a trooper, he’s working hard and motivating, and he’s doing the things I want him to do as coach. We’ve just got to win more football games.”
