Colorado football’s recruiting momentum is starting to show up within the Big 12 Conference. After adding four-star wide receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray, the Buffaloes now have a class that ranks among the conference’s best and gives Deion Sanders another sign that the national pitch is working.

The current 2027 group is unusual in the best way: Colorado has nine verbal commitments, with each coming from a different state. The class includes South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Utah and Texas, giving the Buffs a coast-to-coast footprint that few programs can match.

The class also fits what offensive coordinator Brennan Marion wants to do on offense. Kelly-Murray, along with quarterback Andre Adams, offensive tackle Li’Marcus Jones, and wideout help already in place, will give CU more firepower around its future quarterback room. Defensively, Chris Marve’s side of the ball has also benefited from national recruiting wins such as Gabe Jenkins, Ba’Roc Willis, Davon Dericho, Kenny Fairley and Will Rasmussen.

The rankings back it up, as Colorado is now No. 4 in the Big 12 behind Texas Tech, West Virginia, and Kansas State. Texas Tech is the only Big 12 program with more four-star commits. Colorado is sitting with nine commits, four of them four-stars, which is a strong sign the Buffs are building both depth and quality.

The bigger takeaway of this past weekend is that Colorado is not recruiting like a regional program. Sanders is building a team that expects to compete nationally, and the 2027 class is a prime example.
