Colorado inside linebacker Reginald Hughes plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Friday, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Hughes joins a growing list of nearly 30 players opting to transfer from the 3-9 Colorado football program. That group includes starting wide receivers Omarion and Drelon Miller, as well as standout defensive players Tawfiq Byard and Alexander McPherson.
Hughes joined the Buffs from Jacksonville State before the 2025 season as a graduate transfer. He played in all 12 games, starting seven, and finished with the third-most tackles on the team with 56. With his graduate year already used up, Hughes appears to be seeking another year of eligibility after playing in junior college for two seasons.

After a disastrous season from the Colorado linebacking core, Hughes’ departure is likely viewed as an addition by subtraction. Expect Deion Sanders and Colorado to prioritize the linebacker position on their transfer portal shopping list when it opens on Friday.
