Colorado finally got a little national attention for its transfer class, and wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. was the standout.

ESPN’s updated transfer portal rankings placed Moore at No. 26, just outside the top 25, after former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby was removed from the list. It gave Colorado at least one player near the top of the national conversation, even if several other newcomers are still overlooked.

Moore arrives in Boulder after three seasons at Texas, where he became a dependable target for the Longhorns. He finished last season with 38 catches for 532 yards and four touchdowns, and Colorado believes that kind of steady production will matter in a young receiver room.

What may help just as much is what he brings off the field. Deion Sanders has already referred to Moore as “the real leader,” a label that fits a player who has spent time in the SEC and understands the day-to-day grind.

The ranking also sharpened the frustration around other Colorado players. Danny Scudero, who led the country in receiving yards last season, was left out of the top 100, while other top transfers, Boo Carter and Gideon Lampron, were also absent.

Still, Moore’s presence gives the Buffs a proven piece at a position that should matter immediately. He also reunites with Brennan Marion, who helped recruit him to Texas and now gets him back in a system that fits his skill set.

For Colorado, this was a small national nod. The bigger question is whether Moore will be able to click with quarterback Julian Lewis and back it up once the season begins.
