Colorado vs. Baylor football ticket prices hit new record in Deion Sanders era

The Colorado Buffaloes (2-1) hit the road for the third time in the 2026 football season to open Big 12 play against the Baylor Bears (2-1) on Saturday.
This will be the only time Deion Sanders will come close to his house in Texas, with Waco two hours south from his estate in Canton. But Coach Prime and the Buffs aren't in high demand just 90 miles from the Dallas Metro area. As it turns out, Colorado set a new record in the Sanders era for lowest ticket prices.
"I think we go in there with the same record. It's going to be a wonderful setting, you know, back in Texas, and I look forward to it. We look forward to it," Sanders said this week.
The cheapest listed price on StubHub for the game at McLane Stadium between Colorado and Baylor was $8 per ticket. There were 22 sections around the venue with prices $20 and under. Five of those sections were tickets in the lower bowl. This is by far the worst pregame indicator in terms of ticket sales since Sanders took over at Colorado in 2023.
Keep in mind, Colorado was one of the hottest tickets in college football during the first two years with Sanders at the helm. Now, it's clear fans aren't coming to Waco to support the Buffs in the 2026 season. When Sanders and CU made the trip to Texas Tech in 2024, the sold-out crowd was mixed with Buffs and Red Raiders fans. Tech's campus is three times as far away compared to Baylor. This is one of the latest signs of the "Prime Effect" taking a nosedive this season.
Colorado sold out every stadium they played in two years ago. As of now, the ticket prices are less than the fees to buy them. There's no guarantee tickets will remain this low on Saturday morning, but they could very well drop hours before the 11 a.m. local time kickoff.
While seeing Colorado in Waco is currently less than any meal, and in some states, less than a gallon of gas, the rest of the Buffaloes' schedule is fairly balanced. Even back home in Boulder, tickets are still available for the 150th homecoming game against Texas Tech on Oct. 3. This should be a bestseller with the Big 12 conference champions coming to the foot of the Flatirons. Unfortunately, the demand is low right now.
As for the Baylor matchup, quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to be back for the Bears on Saturday. The Florida transfer missed the past two games due to injury and has made significant progress. The Buffs' defense will have their hands full trying to contain Lagway.
