Colorado vs Kansas State Prediction: Can Buffs Bust Wildcat Bowl Hopes?

It’s been a brutal season for Colorado.

It’s not just that the team season never got off the ground, or that it was awful in the Big 12, it’s that a Deion Sanders-coached team became invisible.

There were a ton of big things happening in the Big 12 season, and Colorado was an NPC. Basically, Texas Tech turned into the productive version of what the Buffaloes were trying to become.

But there’s still time to do something big. Beat Kansas State, ruin its bowl hopes, and then there’s something to build on.

The Wildcats started poorly, kept tripping over themselves, and still somehow scraped together enough wins to get close.

Now, after all of the problems, and all of the tough losses, they’re one win away from being okay.

Why Colorado Will Win

What’s going right with the Buffaloes over this rough run?

Not much, but there’s nothing to lose at this point, and there’s a chance all the talent on this team lets it rip. It’s almost as if they’re playing tentatively at times, with no positive consistency to the running game to rely on.

But when young, good-looking quarterback Julian Lewis gets hot, the offense can move. At least it did against West Virginia.

Why Kansas State Will Win

The Kansas State lines aren’t anything special this season, but this is when the offense has to go back to what worked against Utah and its normally great run defense.

Run, run, and run some more.

It’s been a roller coaster for the Wildcats on the ground. The line hasn’t been dominant enough, and the pass protection has been iffy. It showed week after week as the rushing attack struggled to show any dominance.

And then last week, the offense unleashed Joe Jackson, who ripped off 293 yards and two scores as part of a 472-yard rushing day in the wild loss to Utah. And now …

Colorado vs Kansas State Prediction, Betting Lines

The Colorado run defense is about to have a bad day.

The Kansas State line created the gaps, Jackson and quarterback Avery Johnson were running through wide open spaces, and that might be nothing compared to what this backfield is about to do against a Buffalo defense that allowed 200 rushing yards or more seven times.
