Complete guide to this season’s college bowl games with Arizona ties

The college football bowl season schedule is out, and both Arizona and Arizona State are in the mix. 

But this year’s lineup will also include an important College Football Playoff semifinal held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, along with several other bowl games around the state.  

From the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl in Tucson to the Rate Bowl at Chase Field, there’s a lot of bowl game action in Arizona. 

All times are Mountain Standard Time.

What bowl game will ASU play in? 

The Sun Devils (8-4) will face Duke (8-5) in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 31, in El Paso, Texas. The game will start at noon and air on CBS. 

What bowl game will UA play in? 

The Wildcats (9-3) play SMU (8-4) in the Holiday Bowl on Friday, Jan. 2, in San Diego, California. The game will start at 6 p.m. and air on Fox.

Which teams are in the Rate Bowl? 

The Rate Bowl will feature Big Ten opponent Minnesota (7-5) against Mountain West opponent New Mexico (9-3) at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix on Friday, Dec. 26. The game will start at 2:30 p.m. and be shown on ESPN.

Which teams are in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl? 

The game held at Arizona Stadium in Tucson will feature MAC opponent Miami (Ohio) (7-6) and Mountain West opponent Fresno State (8-4). The game will be played on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 2:30 p.m. and will be shown on the CW.

Who will play in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl? 

The biggest of the bowl games in Arizona, the Fiesta Bowl, was named a CFP semifinal for this season as part of a rotation for the New Year’s Six bowl games.  

This season, the semifinal game will be played on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 5:30 p.m., and will feature one of six teams, including: No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Georgia, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 10 Miami and No. 11 Tulane. 

The teams in the semifinal will be decided following the quarterfinals on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
