Could Chaz Coleman be making a return to the football field after being medically disqualified following a transfer to Tennessee this past offseason?

It appears it could be on the bingo card after a social media post he made Wednesday, Aug. 12.

In that X post, Coleman showed four videos of himself going through drills at a gym. According to Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel — part of the USA TODAY Network — the location is unknown, but the former Vols 6-4 defensive end is no longer with the football program or enrolled at Tennessee.

Coleman, ranked as the No. 3 edge rusher and No. 16 overall player in 247Sports’ transfer rankings, was one of the Vols' top pickups in the portal this past offseason. He followed Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Tennessee.

He was medically disqualified in late June by the Vols. As noted by Knox News, if a player is medically disqualified, he could transfer to another school and play in a future season if they are medically cleared. They are just no longer able to play at the school where they were medically disqualified.

"Real sorry not having Chaz. I hope the best for him as a young man," Knowles said of Coleman during a Aug. 4 media availability. "(Pass rush) is kind of how Chaz made his mark last year at Penn State. We just set up opportunities for him in the game to be creative and pass rush.

"So it’s a question mark (for Tennessee's 2026 defense) and time will tell how that goes. But we need to have other tools in the toolbox to create the pass rush, if need be. And we’ll have that.”

Coleman finished with eight tackles, one broken-up pass, one sack and one forced fumble last season at Penn State.

Tennessee is set to open the season on Saturday, Sept. 5 against Furman at 3:30 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
