The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 83 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 83 at LSU:

No. 83 – WR Corey Barber Jr.

Barber is an incoming freshman wide receiver who probably won't factor into the game plan much this season, but don't let that distract from the immense potential that he brings.

He was a major recruiting win for Lane Kiffin, securing a flip from the Ole Miss Rebels after being named the Tigers' head coach. It is clear that Barber is in the offensive plans for Kiffin, given how quickly he was brought over.

Barber was a four-star receiver in the 247Sports composite rankings, the No. 56 overall player, No. 8 WR and the fourth-best player out of the Alabama. He attended Clay-Chalkville high school.

He came in a little bit shorter than expected at 5-foot-11 but bulked up to 188 pounds. His speed is his biggest asset, a former legitimate track competitor, and he's shaping up to be a yards after catch menace.

Plays That Went For 83 Yards

Jordan Jefferson Opens Miracle 2010 Game vs Tennessee With 83-Yard Scramble

One of the most iconic games of the Les Miles era, the 2010 home game against the Tennessee Volunteers, opened up with an 83-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jordan Jefferson. He didn't have a ton of great moments manning the Tigers' offense, but this was one of his best. He ended this season with 450 yards and seven rushing scores.

That's not the Jefferson play that this game is remembered by, though. It was a game that LSU should have won easily, but they needed a "miracle" to actually pull it off. Jefferson was stopped short on a scramble from second and goal while the Tigers had no timeouts left and under 30 seconds remaining.

LSU ran to the line to try and get the ball off in time and it was such a chaotic moment that the ball ended up playing over Jefferson's head and seemingly lost the game for the Tigers and the Volunteers began celebrating. However, Tennessee had too many men on the field.

Given one more play, LSU would score on a halfback toss and win the game 16-14.
