The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 57 days away, the number that no one wants to hear anymore.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 57 at LSU:

No. 57 – OT Ja'Kolby Jones

Along with getting new starters for the offensive line, the Tigers also had to completely rebuild their depth. To do so, they dipped into the JUCO level. Jones was a great high school player for Many back before his college days and has played a lot of football since then.

Jones had been starting for Copiah-Lincoln CC for the past two season, and won a title with a dominant running game. LSU certainly needs more linemen who can assert themselves in the run game, as they have lacked that for the past few seasons. Their tackles right now, even, are more known for pass protection.

The junior lineman probably won't see the field much over Jordan Seaton or Weston Davis, but should provide excellent depth. This offensive line should be better than next season, but that's just on paper. There's no telling how it will actually shape up when it comes time for the games.

247Sports listed Jones as the No. 138-ranked player, No. 19 offensive tackle and the No. 42 player out of Louisiana in the JUCO rankings for this previous cycle.

Highlighting Former Players Who Wore No. 57

OT Carius Curne (2025)

Curne was a prime recruit out of the 2025 class, one of the best offensive linemen in the country. He came to the Tigers with the potential of being a cornerstone piece of their line, but almost nothing played out like it was supposed to last year. He ended up being thrust in at right tackle for a little bit and ended up starting a handful of games at left tackle.

After a chaotic first season, he transferred over to the Ole Miss Rebels rather than stick around for the new regime in Baton Rouge.

DL Davon Godchaux (2014-2016)

Godchaux was an instant impact defender in college and played a lot of football in college. Over his sophomore and junior campaigns alone, he picked up over 12 sacks and 17 TFLs. To no one's surprise, he left early for the draft and ended up a fifth-round pick. He hasn't been the most decorated player, but he's stuck around in the NFL. This season, for the New Orleans Saints, will be his 10th in the league.
