The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 35 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 35 at LSU:

No. 35 – LB Zach Weeks

This is not the first Weeks that has been covered on the countdown. Zach is the younger brother of superstar linebacker Whit Weeks and, of course, ex-Tigers standout West Weeks. 

The third brother to suit up for LSU is a redshirt freshman this year. He did see some slight action as a true freshman, mostly because they wanted all three brothers on the field together. He appeared in just five games, with that last one being a bowl game so it doesn't count against the redshirt.

Weeks played just under 100 snaps total between depth defense and special teams. He finished the year with one tackle, which came at linebacker against the Houston Cougars in the Tigers' bowl game. He also logged one pressure against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers late in the season per Pro Football Focus.

Maybe not this year, because they are simply set at linebacker, but the expectation certainly is for him to eventually be a starter at some point. He's the same great athlete that his brothers are and has the same build, listed at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, which is great for a freshman.

A Former Player Who Wore No. 35

DE Sai'vion Jones (2021-2024)

Jones was a high school football star in Louisiana and a highly-touted, four-star recruit. He played for the Tigers at a mostly contentious time, but he was a solid player in his own right who really broke out as a senior. He had 11.5 career sacks at LSU, with 43 pressures coming in his final year alone.

He showed enough to get drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. That was a great place for him to end up as it is a franchise with a great defense and a history of strong pass rushers with similar styles to Jones. He didn't see the field much as a rookie, but did end up with a fumble recovery against the San Francisco 49ers.
