The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 55 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 55 at LSU:

No. 55 – DE Lamar Brown

Brown is far more anticipated than the average freshman. For example, he just became the highest-rated true freshman in EA College Football history at an 84. He is an incredible athlete who could have been a five-star at either offensive or defensive line. The Tigers have him listed as a defensive end, but expect to see him line up all over the place.

He's big for the average modern pass rusher at 6-foot-4, 295 pounds, but that is what makes him so impressive. He has the athleticism to attack with either power or speed depending on who is across from him. It would be a shock to not see him on the field in at least a rotational role in his first year.

No. 55 – OG Aliou Bah

Bah will come in and start right away at right guard for LSU. He is a very experienced player who is the perfect bridge up the middle. He was a four-star transfer pickup out of the portal and one of the best linemen available.

Pro Football Focus has Bah logged with 1,511 career snaps and just a single sack allowed in 2024 against the Indiana Hoosiers. That is a lot of football and a lot of proof as a solid pass protector. His run blocking didn't have the same reputation, but the same could be said about a lot of these new Tigers. It'll be interesting to see how they look as a group.

Highlighting A Former Player Who Wore No. 55

C Ben Wilkerson (2001-2004)

Wilkerson has been in football for over 30 years, dating back to his high school days. He was a fantastic player for the Tigers, winning a national championship in 2003 and being named to two All-American teams. He went undrafted but ended up spending four years in the NFL. He became a graduate assistant for LSU back in 2011 and has been a coach ever since. This past offseason, he was hired as the new assistant offensive line coach for the Las Vegas Raiders.
