Cyclones blanked in Cy-Hawk match

Iowa State soccer falls to 2-2-1 on the season following a 2-0 loss to Iowa (3-1) Thursday evening at the Cyclone Sports Complex.

Eme McClenahan saved 10 shots, a season high for the Utah transfer.

The Hawkeyes scored their first goal on a penalty three minutes into the match.

ISU was outshot, 13-2, in the first half, leading to a 1-0 score at halftime. Iowa finished with advantages of 26-2 in attempts (12-1 on-goal) and 8-0 in corner kicks.

The second goal of the match came in the 59th minute.

In addition to McClenahan playing 90 minutes, Maia Soulis and Erin Hopewell played the entire match. Danica Lunceford and Sophie Forrester recorded a shot in the match with Lunceford recording a shot on goal.

Forrester, Breezie Brewer and Megan Walters received yellow cards. As a team, Iowa State had 21 fouls to Iowa’s 13.
