Throughout this transfer portal cycle, Matt Campbell and his new look Nittany Lions staff have been focused on familiarity, generally looking to Iowa State for solutions to the revamping of the program’s roster. However, one of their latest transfer portal pickups comes from the Division II ranks.

On Monday night, former Tiffin University offensive lineman Tyshon Huff committed to play for Penn State next season. He will enter next season with two more years of eligibility.

The 6-4, 300 pounder played both guard ad tackle during his time at Tiffin, taking a redshirt season in 2023 before starting in 11 games this season as a redshirt sophomore. After announcing his decision to transfer, he got interest from mid-major schools such as Buffalo, Troy and Wyoming, eventually committing to Penn State.

Huff made a little bit of history for the Nittany Lions as he is the first ever player to transfer from the Division II ranks into the program. He is not the first to come from outside the FBS however, as Saint Francis offensive lineman Hunter Albright and Grambling State receiver Keith Jones Jr. have already joined the squad.

Huff is the 37th overall player to join the Nittany Lions this offseason through the portal and the fifth offensive lineman. Penn State now have 17 players rostered as O-linemen.
