Penn State Athletic Director Pat Kraft made headlines last week, as a leaked video recording surfaced in which he ranted about a number of topics related to the Penn State Nittany Lions football program.
One of those topics focused on the Nittany Lions’ late September loss to the Oregon Ducks earlier this season, a game that went into double overtime and dropped Penn State from No. 3 to No. 7. They continued to fall, culminating in a stunning six-game losing streak that led to the firing of head coach James Franklin. Quarterback Drew Allar was also injured along the way, as the program crumbled following the loss to the Ducks.
Kraft’s specific comments ranged from saying that Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was shaking in overtime (he completed all four of his passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns), that the Ducks are “frauds” and that in the state of Oregon “ain’t (expletive) going on, it’s a bunch of (expletive) weirdos.”
The comments made the rounds on social media, with Kraft issuing an apology on Monday.
Though his focus is solely on the preparations for the Ducks’ upcoming College Football Playoff matchup with the James Madison Dukes, it was only a matter of time before head coach Dan Lanning was asked for his take on the whole situation.
“Yeah, no response,” Lanning said during an appearance on the Zach Gelb Show on Tuesday, a slight smile on his face. “Pat’s trying to do the best job that he can for Penn State. But, I heard it. It was good.”
“A lot of people, when they hear that, they go ‘next time Oregon plays Penn State, that’s going to be a classic Dan Lanning hype up speech in the locker room,'” Gelb said.
“We’ll see,” Lanning responded, revealing a bigger smile.
I asked Dan Lanning about Pat Kraft’s comments on Oregon.

Enough said, as they say.
The next time Oregon and Penn State will meet in the regular season will be in 2027, with the game taking place at Autzen Stadium.
