Danny Kanell leaves Notre Dame’s CJ Carr off his top QB list

Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr has been a steady hand running Notre Dame’s offense through four games, but it wasn’t enough to impress former Florida State QB turned broadcaster Danny Kanell.

Kanell released his top-13 at the position through four weeks, and Carr was nowhere to be found. Sure he isn’t at the top of the passing yards list or the most touchdowns thrown, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Carr is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, with a 184.4 rating, with his average yards-per-reception near the top of the list at 10.1.

He’s leading an offense that has averaged 42.3 points-per-game against good competition, three Big Ten teams and Rice. There aren’t many quarterbacks who have a resume like Carr’s and while the stats aren’t eye-popping, it’s hard to imagine there are thirteen quarterbacks in college football better than him at the movement.

Kanell clearly missed on this list, as some of the players named ahead of him have feasted on bad competition. As the season goes on, it will even out, and Carr eventually will make his list, but not having him on there now is a big miss.
