Later this week, Dan Lanning and a group of Oregon Ducks will pack their bags and head to Tokyo, Japan, for the first-ever Tokyo Oregon Football Showcase. The event will celebrate the deep-rooted historical connection between Oregon and Japanese American Football and work to grow enthusiasm for the sport in that region.
The event will begin on June 25, with Lanning teaching football concepts alongside players Dante Moore, Dakorien Moore, Jamari Johnson, Jeremiah McClellan, Evan Stewart, Dierre Hill Jr. and Jordon Davison. However, one Duck has already made his appearance in Japan’s biggest city.
A Heisman favorite, Moore is featured prominently on a vertical billboard in Kabukichō, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. The Oregon quarterback posted a picture of the landmark promo on his Instagram story on Sunday.

“Yes, there’s Moore!” reads the billboard. The official Oregon football account on X also posted another version of the promo, continuing to build hype for the return of one of the nation’s best quarterbacks.
This isn’t the first time the Ducks have launched massive ad campaigns for a quarterback with favorable Heisman odds. In 2023, Oregon plastered billboards in New York and Dallas of then-quarterback Bo Nix, launching a “Bo-Dacious” campaign to support their Heisman-caliber passer. Nix wound up in New York City as a Heisman finalist that season.

In 2001, the Ducks took to Times Square to launch a “Joey Heisman” ad campaign for Joey Harrington, who also finished the season as a Heisman finalist.
Oregon’s presence in Japan this summer shifts the campaign to an international scale and supports the Ducks on their journey to Tokyo to help grow the game.
“The opportunity to represent the University of Oregon in Tokyo is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Lanning said in a press release from Division Street. “Football has taken all of us to incredible places, and it will be special to connect with players and coaches who love this game as much as we do. We are excited to share how we approach the game and to be part of something that’s much bigger than one trip.”
