As it has since 1935, South Florida will be bowling again this year.

The Orange Bowl returns to Hard Rock Stadium on Jan. 14, 2027, at 7:30 p.m., with the game shown on TNT, truTV and HBO Max. This season, Miami Gardens will play host to a College Football Playoff semifinal after holding a quarterfinal last year — before Hard Rock eventually hosted the main event.

South Florida rang in 2026 with a Jan. 1 matchup between the No. 5 Oregon Ducks and No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders. The game brought in 65,021 fans, and the contest ended in the first Orange Bowl shutout since 1992, with Oregon clinching a 23-0 win. The Ducks advanced to the Peach Bowl, where they faced eventual national champion Indiana.

However, the Orange Bowl game was later overshadowed by a larger college football event at Hard Rock Stadium: the national championship. That featured the hometown Hurricanes facing off against the Hoosiers, following Miami’s impressive CFP run as the No. 10 seed.

Miami took a 27-21 loss in the championship, however. This year, football fans will have just one chance to see CFP action in South Florida, hosting solely the Orange Bowl for the 2026-27 season.

There there is another bowl option in South Florida. The 13th annual Boca Raton Bowl will be held this year Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at Florida Atlantic University’s Flagler Credit Union Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Last season’s Boca Raton Bowl brought in almost 20,000 fans and saw Louisville best Toledo in a 27-22 game. It was a fourth-quarter battle, as Toledo came back from a 14-3 deficit, scoring 19 points in the final frame. However, behind quarterback Miller Moss, who wrapped up his collegiate career throwing for 153 yards and two touchdowns, the Cardinals offense was able to respond, and Louisville held off the Rockets.

Ticket holders will hope for the same excitement in this year’s contest and will await the announcement of the matchup Dec. 6 after conference championship weekend. The bowl picks primarily from Conference USA and the American Athletic, Mid-American, Mountain West and Sun Belt conferences.
