Davis QB Tradon Bessinger named finalist for ALL-USA Football Team

Tradon Bessinger’s senior season at Davis High School cemented him as one of Utah’s most prolific quarterbacks, with record-breaking production. Last month, he committed to play next season at Iowa.

Bessinger’s season earned him a nod as a finalist on the ALL-USA West Football Team. That also makes him a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team. Both the West Team and the national team will be announced later this month.

Rising Star in Kaysville

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds, Bessinger has been the centerpiece of Davis’ offense for three years. A pocket passer with natural arm talent, he developed into one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the state.

This year, as a senior, was nothing short of spectacular: 333 completions on 438 attempts (76 percent) for 4,313 yards, 53 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Those numbers not only led Utah but also broke the state record for single-season completions, surpassing Cammon Cooper’s mark of 331.

Bessinger’s consistency was remarkable. He threw for 400+ yards in three straight games in September, including a dazzling 504-yard, five-touchdown performance against Syracuse. In the playoffs, he showcased resilience, completing 40 of 48 passes for 327 yards and three scores in a 6A quarterfinal loss to Lone Peak in double overtime.

Career Milestones

Over three seasons as a starter, Bessinger compiled 10,908 career passing yards and 127 touchdowns, placing him No. 8 all-time in Utah passing yards and No. 4 in career touchdown passes. His progression was steady: As a sophomore in 2023, he had 2,925 yards, 32 TDs, and 12 interceptions; and as a junior in 2024, he had 3,670 yards, 42 TDs, and 5 interceptions. This trajectory highlights his ability to refine mechanics, cut down turnovers, and elevate his team’s success year after year.

Football Recruiting Journey

Bessinger’s recruitment reflected his rising profile. He fielded offers from programs such as Boise State, BYU, Appalachian State and UCLA but ultimately committed to Iowa last month.

Analysts describe him as a quarterback with traits reminiscent of Carson Strong: a tall pocket passer with excellent velocity, touch on deep throws and the ability to extend plays when pressured. While some scouts note he must continue to sharpen footwork and processing speed, his natural arm talent and durability make him a strong candidate to thrive in Iowa’s system.

ESPN ranks him as a top-200 national prospect and one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2026. 247 Sports has him listed as a four-star recruit, the No. 12 quarterback in the class, the 6th rated overall prospect in Utah and the No. 185 ranked recruit nationally. Recently, he was named 2025 MaxPreps Utah High School Football Player of the Year.

He is also a multi-sport athlete, contributing on the basketball court with averages of 6.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game as a junior. This versatility underscores his athleticism.
