A key member of Deion Sanders‘ quarterback room could be on the move soon, according to reports.
As the NCAA’s winter transfer portal window draws to a close, numerous CFB stars are still undecided — including Colorado’s Jordan Seaton. But as Austin Price and Pete Nakos of On3.com report, sophomore QB Ryan Staub is also taking visits to other schools including one in SEC country.
Staub appeared in four games for the Buffs last year where he completed 54.5% of his passes for 427 yards with three touchdowns and four picks. But his performance against Delaware earned him the start vs. Houston the following week where he was handed the keys to CU’s offense.
Colorado QB Staub taking visit to Volunteers
Per On3, Staub is expected to take a visit to Josh Heupel and Tennessee on Sunday. The Vols went 8-5 in 2025 behind the play of senior QB Joey Aguilar who filled in admirably after the stunning transfer of Nico Iamaleava.
Aguilar’s availability for ’26 is still pending as the NCAA sorts out his eligibility ruling, along with the recovery time needed for his recent surgery to remove a benign tumor that plagued him for the majority of last season.
The Vols currently only have two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster: George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon — four and five-star recruits respectively. And are in pretty desperate need of some QB depth heading into next year.

Former NFL player predicts Deion Sanders would leave CU for 1 NFL job
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, ex-NFL star Pacman Jones said that he could see Coach Prime bolting from Colorado if it meant being able to coach his son in the pros.
“It would have to be Cleveland,” Jones told the Hollywood outlet. “He’s not going to go and coach against Shedeur, that’s first and foremost.”
“I’m not saying it can’t happen,” the one-time Pro Bowler added. “But if it was to happen, it would be somewhere where Shedeur is playing at.”
Deion hasn’t expressed any desire to make the leap to the NFL. But if he was, you’d have to imagine the only way it would happen is if he got to coach Shedeur.
